Update from Christos - Dec 2023 🎄
A 6-year journey that defied expectations, fun times at Cognome, global mentoring with Seedstars and SEGITA, diving into the Miami startup scene.
Hello,
2023 is coming to an end. This has been a pivotal year for me, so it is fitting to send a quick update!
6 years ago, I quit my job, left San Francisco, and embarked on an adventurous search for "something new". I wanted to increase my impact by helping more startups through entrepreneurship programs and fractional hands-on roles, while also getting closer to Greece. I expected that "by 2023" I would be working for a VC firm or a venture studio, based somewhere in Europe or in New York.
After 10+ fractional product & growth positions, 20+ entrepreneurship program cohorts, 100+ mentoring roles, and 30+ speaking engagements across 35+ countries, I definitely increased my impact. At the same, life defied my expectations in terms of both career and location. This is what she does best, and I am grateful for the outcome! 🤗
My job at Cognome is engaging and challenging with a lot to do in a lot of areas. I stretch in many directions and occasionally get my ass kicked, surrounded by smart, passionate, supportive people. A startup position at its best!
Miami has been kind, gracing me with an active community, wonderful friends, and a delightful relationship. After years living out of a suitcase, my meditation pillow, my vinyl records, and an assortment of other "non essential" items that were sitting in boxes, finally found a new home! 🌴
On the mentoring front, Fall brought some worthy opportunities:
Participated in the Q4 cohort of the Seedstars Growth Track, working with Masu an e-commerce startup from Mexico City
Doubled-down on impact by teaching the 2024 cohort of SEGITA, the only social-impact-focused accelerator program
Got more active in the local (Miami) ecosystem, advising for AI Forge, an AI-focused accelerator with presence in London and Miami
What can you expect from me in 2024? Cool updates about my work at Cognome as the fruits of my efforts get released to the market. More local activities in the Miami startup ecosystem. And the occasional "overseas" mentoring story!
As this year comes to a close, I want to thank you again for your support. Your positive thoughts, your messages, and your tangible contributions, are deeply appreciated.
Wishing you a New Year filled with health, joy, and success. Happy Holidays! 🎅
Christos
